C is for Cookie...or M is for MESS!!!

Well, today was a crazy day! No, scratch that- this last WEEK has been totally, utterly and completely NUTS!

One night last week I awoke at 2:30am and remembered that I needed to do a load of laundry-jeans, as usual- for the girls for school. So I trudged downstairs, and as I dragged my sorry carcass I heard a strange splashing noise...hummmmmmmm, what could that be?

When I stepped into about an inch of WATER on my dining room carpet I figured it out.

Holy CRAP!!! This is the view as you come down the stairs...of course the carpet was not pulled up when I first saw it that night...do ya see the reflection in the water on the cement under the carpet (even AFTER they sucked out the majority of the water?) Read on my friend...

Some of you will remember that before Christmas we had a bunch of Plumbing repair work done- preventative...or so they said! To prevent leaks from a bad batch of connecting-type plumbing parts- the plumbing company came cut up my walls and replaced a ton of parts. Welllllllll, they didn't attach a pipe correctly behind the 1/2 bath pedestal sink downstairs, and it popped apart and, for who knows how many hours in the middle of the night, poured water out to flood my downstairs...*sigh* Luckily it only covered about 2/3 of the whole downstairs - and only ruined a couple boxes of tissue and some food in the pantry! (didn't reach the computers thank goodness!!!) But what a PAIN in the fanny!

Soooooo the bathroom, laundry room, kitchen (pic above), pantry, dining room, and part of the front room were flooded. Oh and the water was draining out the door that goes into the garage, running under the Van, to the garage door, and into the street... I only wish I were kidding!

They had to first suck out the majority of the water, then they peeled back the carpet and cut out the ruined pad...this pic is the view into my dining room while I was standing in the corner of the living room.

Here are all the fans and dehumidifiers lined up in the garage before they were placed all over downstairs. We had to have those huge and very LOUD things running in our house for three days...24hrs a day...ugh!! My headache has barely faded! It was like living in a wind tunnel! Now that it is finally dry- tomorrow they return to start replacing the carpet pad (oh, they tore the old one out), replace the baseboards (oh, they tore those out too) reattach the carpet, then paint from baseboard to ceiling where the water touched. Holy crap!

So the downstairs has been destroyed all week...

But there is some good news- Josh and I finally found the bedroom set we have been looking for...so now due to major reorganization and the upstairs is destroyed as well! :D We purchased the bedroom set at Costco, unpacked it all last night so we could get rid of all the packing stuff with the garbage and recycling pick-up this morning. Today we lugged the Entertainment Center from our room downstairs, moved the King Headboard, footboard, 2 bedside tables, and 2 VERY LARGE and freakin' HEAVY dressers up our stairs. I am so sore! It is amazing I didn't permanently damage the furniture, the walls...or for that matter my Self while struggling to help Josh carry this junk up and down the stairs!! :D The furniture is really beautiful- but the upstairs is a total disaster, with moving furniture around in every bedroom! I will post a pic when the mess is cleaned up and you can appreciate the prettiness of it all.

While we were trying to carry up the last dresser I asked Sam to go play with Izzy in his room to keep him safely out of the way (oh, we moved her crib from our room to his room... :) I get my own space back!) she was sitting and playing on Sam's bed. After we were done I went in there and saw this...

Yes...that is what is left of a WHOLE OREO in her mouth. Sam decided to share his cookie with his baby Sissy!

She had only eaten mushy baby food up to this point...but just look at the happiness and getting ahold of such a disgusting processed treat!!! I fear she will never eat pureed peas or gooey turkey again, and I can't say I blame her! Oh, and I had JUST put clean blankets on Sam's bed, and I had just sqeezed her royal chubbiness into that cute little dress about 15 minutes before...*sigh* She was just so happy and adorable in her big nasty mess I didn't even care- I ran straight for the camera before I even thought of cleaning it up!

Welcome to my CRAZY house! I should install rubber rooms here, easy to clean Oreo off, and hey, waterproof! :D

Sorry to hear about your flooding. It is so crazy, the exact same situation happened with my sil, in vegas too.

Congrats on the new bedroom set though, lets see pictures. I have been wanting one for years.

This must be a test to see how much you can handle! Ha ha! :) If it was me, I probably would have just cried! But hey...new paint and baseboards and bedroom set...at least you have something to look forward to! I hope it all gets back to normal for you soon!

I am excited to see pictures of the new bedroom set. But I am so sorry about the hassle happening downstairs! I know how loud those fans are from my own flooding experiences in college while Josh was still on his mission, but holy crap - that was quite the line of machines! I hope this next week is better. What are you guys going to do for Josh's one day off of school Monday? I'm excited they have this day off, but it's crappy that this is the only break until like April, ugh, oh well. :)

Oh my! What a yucky mess to wake up too! You know you guys can always come here if you need to get out of the mess and loudness, although it sounds like that is done with! I love the oreo pics! So cute!

Way to handle the disaster like a pro. You take one step at a time and clean up the mess that everyone else makes. Your little cookie monster is soooo cute! That was a delighted wonderful baby girl and I am proud of you getting the camera first.

What a disaster! I'm glad you are on the home stretch now, hopefully you're done with home repairs for a while.
Now...can we talk about sweet revenge?? What goods have you got on my husband??

We want pictures of your bedroom set. And you so deserve at least 1 month of free rent.

hum, why not a flood i say! Bring it on.... Only kidding - of course. You are a horrible mother for not giving oreos to Izzy before now. Sam did what was right, get her addicted early. So thanks for telling us about the bedroom set, but not putting pics on...Hello. We want to see this gorgeousness!

Oh my gosh! That better not happen to my house now that they finished the repairs over here. Your the 2nd person I've heard of in our complex, whose house flooded after.
