Writers Cafe/Beat Breakin' Bears

Amanda and Emily's school has an event called "Writers Cafe" a couple times a year.  Each Teacher picks one student from thier class to read an original story in front of th whole school...both my Amanda and Emily were chosen for this Writers Cafe!  So cool.  The big assembly for this was also when the school 'dance group', The Beat Breakin' Bears (or BBB as I like to call them), was to perform...which Emily is a part of!  She has been going to dance practice each week for a couple months now, and she was SO excited!  Luckily they rescheduled this performance which allowed Josh to be able to come!  It was a LONG day for us.  They had half of the school come in to listen to their half of the Writers Cafe kids and watch a BBB dance performance, then had the other half come in awhile later to do the same thing.  Unfortunately Amanda was with the first group and Emily was with the second!  So Josh and I got there VERY early (which I am BAD at doing) because I PROMISED Emily that we would be early to get good seats.

My camera freaked out and I didn't get
Amanda's reading recorded,
but I did get this cute pic of her and Sam with her story afterwards!

After her first BBB performance.
It was SO FUN!  I videoed the whole thing,
but didn't get any pics...duh.
My friend did take a bunch of pics,
I shall have to request some!

The Beat Breakin' Bears Dec. 2010

...Em...what the?...{slaps forehead}

Emily and her great friend Ravyn.

Emily waiting to go up and read her story for Writers Cafe.

I can't even begin to explain how proud I am of my girls.
They are smart, funny, kind, crazy, thoughtful, and
all around GOOD KIDS!

Amanda has been participating in G.A.T.E.
(Gifted and Talented Education)
since the 3rd grade, and still LOVES it!
She also got straight A's ALL of last year, and is well
on her way for the same kind of grades this year.
She just devoured finished the last Harry Potter book,
it makes my heart happy to see her
love of reading just grow and grow.
Amanda's teacher had so many wonderful things to
say about her at our Parent/Teacher conference...
it made me SO PROUD to be her Mom!

Emily was really excited to be invited
to test to get into G.A.T.E. this year,
(she was stressed about it even though this is the first year,
3rd grade, that kids even start going to GATE)
she wanted it so BADLY!
She was BEAMING when she brought home
the letter that said she got in!
Em is doing GREAT in school and so excited to learn
new things in her GATE classes as well.
She is halfway through the Harry Potter books,
and can hardly put them down most nights!

They are brilliant...what can I say? ;)
