At first glance you might think that I caved and bought a fishtank for the kids...
As you can see it is actually a humidifier! Cool huh?! It is sooooo dry down here that we have to add some moisture to the air...or shrivel up! :D I found this one with a little 'tank' on the front, complete with three plastic fish that 'swim' around in the streams of bubbles coming from the bottom...oh, and there is a small light that changes colors inside the 'fishtank' too... kinda psychodelic but neato at the same time! It isn't that I don't want the kids to have some kind of pet...I just don't want to DEAL with said pet! :D
We would love to get a puppy, but I am so overwhelmed with my current workload I don't think I have it in me! :D Not to mention both Sam and I are terribly allergic! Plus we are squished into this condo as it is!!! We have debated over the last year or so on moving to a bigger place, but we have pretty much decided to stick it out here! In order to not go crazy I am seriously trying to dejunk, and we are slowly fixing up the backyard (with approval and $$$ help from our wonderful landlady) with new sod, groundcover rocks, and some pretty plantings...so the kids have a nice place to play outside. I even got a huge outside umbrella today...now I just have to figure out how to set it up! A tidy nice backyard sure makes a rental feel like a HOME! We need to save the $$$ it would take to move/rent a bigger place- after all you know they only give you so much Student Loan funds each year!
After we got this humidifier Sam was like this [see above] all day! LOVE it! :D So hysterical! The kids still like thier new 'fishies' and THIS is the kind of pet I can get behind! :D LOL

I am with you the pet thing. We had to give our kitty away, due to my Sam's allergys. :( But now without an animal it has been nice. Besidew with four kids and a husband I have all the animals I can handle. lol

LOVE that fish tank, and could Sam's love for it be any cuter?
We have had a dog, and speaking from experience-it really is like having another child.
Once upon a time a long, long time ago Dear old Mikey thought when I had an infant and was potty training a toddler would be a good time to introduce a puppy into the family.
He was dead wrong!!
I am happy to say that both children and husband are still with us, Piper the dog...not so much.
Having said all that, we do have a new kitten at our house and he is loved.
Hint to future pet owners across the world:
Cats are WAY easier than dogs.
