7 Random Things About Me...

We have all seen this tag going around, but it has been so much fun to read everyone elses, I am hoping mine won't be too boring! :)

So....7 Random things about me:

1. Wet bread is the most disgusting substance on the face of the earth...possibly in the universe. I would rather be touching a dead body, literally, than wet bread. (I took Anatomy at BYU and it didn't gross me out anywhere near as finding a soggy bite of bread on a sandwich) Ugh. Gross. It actally makes my palms itch....bleeehhch!!!

2. Josh and I nickname our children the strangest things and/or they have TONS of nicknames for instance:
Amanda- Amanda-Moo, Moo-berry, Angel, Manda, Roses, the Eldest, Manda Rose,
Emily- Emma-Doo, Doo-berry, Em-ih-la, Emma, Emmy, Em,
Samuel- Sam, Sammy, Little Mister, Bounce, Kelpie (when he was a baby with his arms outstretched he would wave his little hands at the wrist just like a undersea plant in the water)
Elizabeth- Liz, Lizzy, Izzy, Lizard (Grandma hates that one!), Izzaboo, It's-a-beth, Business, Fatone, Fats, Chubba Lubba, Biscuit, itsy bitsy (funny considering she is 4 months old, 18 lbs 8 oz, and wearing 12mo clothes...soon to grow out of them!)
*also on this type of topic we always threaten them with violence in jest, our favorite is 'punching in the nose'. Luckily no neighbors have called social services in confusion yet! :) HA!!

3. I have a nervous habit of playing with the same lock of my hair, so much so that it is always broken shorter than the rest of my hair....so weird. The more I write the more I am convinced that I am a head case!

4. I grew up in Northern Idaho, went to college and lived for most of my adult life (until last year) in Utah and I have never been snow skiing. Sad, huh?!

"Anne...with an 'e' "

5. When I love a movie or a book I am obsessed! I won't go into my current Twilight addiction- lets not feed the madness! I can quote VERBATIM Princess Bride & Anne of Green Gables- honestly if I am stressed all I have to do is put on Anne, and it is like a calming drug! Just when I hear those first few notes of music, and hear her start reading 'The Lady of the Lake' out loud, my pulse slows and I am calmed. It really re-aligns my Chi! (fyi-Chi is a feeling of balance and contentment in Asian religions/culture- Feng Shui is using your surroundings to make the most positive Chi in your environment- I guess you could call it 'good vibes')

6. I love to learn about Eastern Religions. In high school I took a zero hour Honors English course- that ended up being a study of most major world religions, it really peaked my interest! So at BYU I ended up majoring in Socio-Cultural Anthropology and I really focused on studying other religions. I think that it was especially interesting to study religions and cultures that were vastly different than my own. My fave cultures to study were Chinese, Indian, & Middle Eastern, LOVED it! I love the Yin Yang sign- to me in symbolizes balance, which is a thing that I really need to find in everyday life! I have a tiny pair of Yin Yang earrings that I have worn almost every day for, honestly, YEARS!

7. I was Dance Team and Drill Team Captain in High School. It was a blast! I only tried out in my Sophmore year because a friend of mine didn't want to try out alone! We were two of the few newbies who made it that year. My Jr. year there was such turnover and a new coach so the 'captain' position was foisted off on me! I had no idea what I was doing, but because our adult leader hadn't done routines since the 70's(trust me THAT was ugly! Ugh!) I had the emergency of choreographing all our routines so we wouldn't look like idiots! Believe it or not I was REALLY shy and quiet my freshman year of High School, no I am not kidding! Being in charge of Dance Team really brought me out of my shell! Yeah, not shy anymore, huh! We won competions my Sr. year, and it was a blast...someday I might let you see the tape, hey at least my thighs were skinny even if my hair wasn't! :) HA

OK, only 7? Nah, I just thought of a really great one, that might be seen as embarrassing by some...

7b. I LOVED New Kids on the Block as a teen. I mean LOVED!!!!! them. The t-shirts, buttons, posters, magazines, music, videos, you name it I had it! Me, a bunch of my friends (with our Mom's) skipped the first few days of Sophmore year to drive to Seattle and see them in concert at the King Dome. My voice was gone and my ears rang for a week! It was great!!! I had a huge sign that said 'JOE'...I bet it is still up in my closet at home at my parents house- and I SWEAR he looked right at it and waved, really. Such fun times! Amy and Nicole YOU know what I am talking about!!!

Wow, Megan - We really could have been twins separated at birth! I am SO grossed out with wet bread, drill team in high school brought me out of my pretty shy shell, and I was also in LOVE with New Kids! For the longest time, that was the only concert I had ever been to and then I had to change that senior year and went to my boyfriend's concert - Bon Jovi! :)
